Head of Engineering (m/f/d)

Digital psychological testing is the core business of our "E-Assessment" development department. With a lot of experience, expertise, inventiveness, and creativity, our in-house team masters tech development and processes for the department. This team is growing and we are looking for critical experience to provide coaching and leadership for the team as well as for the various stakeholders.

To strengthen our dynamic development team in the E-Assessment department at our headquarters in Göttingen, we are looking for a Head of Software Engineering (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible.

Contract Type Indefinite Location Göttingen and remote Working Hours 40 h/week Most Important Qualification Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar, relevant technical leadership experience

What will you be doing?

  • Inspire, grow, coach, and lead the engineering team (up to 30 people)
  • You'll support our teams at all experience levels to develop and collaborate effectively
  • Recruiting and hiring new colleagues
  • Collaborate with product management and other leaders across Hogrefe and its subcontractors
  • Tracking trends in development culture, agile processes, production systems, software design, and engineering development
  • Translating new insights into a functional operating model and technology strategy for Hogrefe

Who are you?

  • Relevant technical leadership experience, having developed and managed engineering teams and related operations
  • Experience in full development cycle following agile setup, including some hands-on technical experience with topics such as test automation, devops, cloud and non-monolithic software
  • Understanding of software processes, multi-team setups, subcontracting practices and operational KPIs
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, German language skills are an asset
