Topic “Major sports events, mental health, and sports psychiatry”
We are inviting submissions of manuscripts for publication in an issue of Sports Psychiatry with the topic on “Major sports events, mental health, and sports psychiatry”.
The Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris in summer 2024. Mental health has received increasing attention in competitive and elite sports, not least due to the initiative of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Sports psychiatrists are now part of the medical teams in competitive and elite sports in some nations, as they will be again at the Olympic Games in Paris. This was unthinkable a few years ago and it is also an expression of the increasing attention and importance of mental health in competitive and elite sports, as well as a necessary sports psychiatric expertise.
We welcome empirical or conceptual manuscripts. This can include original articles, reviews / meta-analyses / consensus statements, brief reports, or letter to the editor / commentaries, in keeping with the usual article types for Sports Psychiatry.
Authors are invited to submit a full manuscript by May 31, 2024. An optional letter of intent can be emailed to malte.claussen(at)bli.uzh.ch.
