Rorschachiana is the peer-reviewed scientific publication of the International Society for the Rorschach. Its aim is to reflect the variety of research schools that exist, while maintaining highest standards of research quality for and by an international audience. The journal is interested in advancing theory and clinical applications of the Rorschach and other projective techniques, and research work that can enhance and promote projective methods. Rorschachiana appears as a journal with 2 online issues per year. All papers published are subject to rigorous peer-review to internationally accepted standards by external reviewers and the Society’s Board of Assessors, working under the auspices of the experienced international editorial team.
Starting 2025, Rorschachiana will be published as an open access journal. This means that all content published from January 2025 onwards is freely available online on Hogrefe eContent, without any charges for individual or institutional users. Authors are free to choose from a variety of Creative Commons licenses (CC BY, CC BY-NC, CC BY-ND, or CC BY-NC-ND). Further information will be available October 1, 2024.
Rorschachiana is archived with Portico.
Peer Review Week: Recognition For Reviewers
Hogrefe journals collaborate with the Web of Science Reviewer Recognition Service to support reviewers and ensure they receive the recognition they deserve for their peer review contributions. The Reviewer Recognition Service enables contributors to track, verify, and showcase their work for promotion and use in funding applications. It is seamlessly integrated into each journal’s Editorial Manager system so reviewers can opt-in to have their completed reviews automatically added to the Web of Science Researcher Profile. Read more on Hogrefe’s recognition for reviewers and find out how to create a Web of Science Researcher profile here.
Transition to open access
The Editor-in-chief of Rorschachiana, the ISR board, and Hogrefe Publishing are delighted to announce that Rorschachiana will be published open access starting January 2025. More details will follow.

It's my great pleasure to share with you that Rorschachiana has been selected for inclusion in Clarivate’s Web of Science, in the Emerging Sources Citation Index. This recognition marks a significant milestone in affirming the quality of our journal and is an acknowledgment that Rorschach-based studies are finally being accepted as a legitimate way of doing science. The inclusion of Rorschachiana in the ESCI starting with the 2022 annual volume, and thus also in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), means that we expect the journal’s first official Journal Impact Factor to be announced in 2025!
Rorschachiana celebrates the centenary of the publication of Hermann Rorschach’s seminal book, Psychodiagnostics, with a special issue of the journal! Our guest editor Dr. Kari Carstairs and Editor-in-Chief Dr. Filippo Aschieri have answered a few questions regarding the new issue.
