- Information on Hogrefe’s open access journals
Hogrefe is committed to promoting and furthering open access and would like to support authors in publishing open access. On this page, we have put together some useful tips on how to fund article publication charges (APC).
Hogrefe has various institutional agreements, society membership arrangements, and waiver and discount programs for corresponding authors who have little to no access to APC funding, such as researchers from low- or middle-income countries, early career researchers, and for members of various societies.
Editorial decisions on the acceptance of a manuscript are made by the independent editors of the respective journal. Editors are not involved in correspondence regarding payment of article publication charges (APCs) or in checking in advance the authors’ ability to pay. Even “Editor Choice” articles are chosen independently.
Your article will be handled in the same way by Hogrefe and by the editors of the journal in which it is to be published – regardless of whether it is published open access as part of the Hogrefe OpenMind program, in an open access journal, or in the traditional publication model (funded by subscriptions).
Hogrefe has special agreements with the following organizations, which you can contact directly for details:
Transformative agreements enable corresponding authors to publish open access in our journals without themselves having to pay an APC.
Germany: More than 100 participating institutions (Hogrefe PsyJOURNALS)
Switzerland: 7 Universities of Teacher Education (Hogrefe PsyJOURNALS) (in German language)
UK: Institutions participating in APA’s Jisc agreement (journals in the PsycArticles database)
Sherpa Juliet: “searchable database and single focal point of up-to-date information concerning funders' policies and their requirements on open access, publication and data archiving.”
Our open access journals offer their own discount and waiver initiatives. Please visit the corresponding pages:
