#29 Digital testing in psychology – anytime from anywhere
Hogrefe took a step towards digitalization of psychometric tools over 30 years ago by offering computer-based testing.
Since its beginning, Hogrefe has worked with authors to develop psychometric assessments for practitioners across all areas of psychology. Digitalization and producing high quality tests that deliver was essential to keep pace with the changing needs of our various markets (including Human Resources, healthcare settings, schools and private practitioners) and foster the practice of psychology more broadly.
Electronic tests were the first milestone, quickly followed by the invention of a digital testing software called the “Hogrefe Testsystem” – a user platform for all digital versions of our assessment portfolio. Today almost every new assessment from Hogrefe is produced digitally by a team of over 50 employees.

In 2024 a new subsidiary company “Hogrefe Digital Solutions GmbH” was founded to focus solely on the further development, improvement and adaptation of the Hogrefe Testsystem and the production of digital assessments. Their work embraces new technologies whilst also keeping in mind customer requirements. The usability, as well as the simplicity of digital testing, are top priorities, as are flexible handling, data security and (critically) the reliability of test results.
The portfolio currently comprises over 600 test instruments in various languages. It includes personality tests, intelligence tests, attention tests, work-related tests and many more.
