Product Description

Critical thinking is the ability to look at a situation and clearly understand it from multiple perspectives whilst separating facts from opinions and assumptions. Managers at all levels are bombarded with information that looks good on the surface but may be incomplete or even flawed. It's easy to make assumptions, draw the wrong conclusions and, therefore, make the wrong decisions. Making the right decisions in business is vital.

The questionnaire is divided into three sections, each of which measures a different aspect of critical thinking. The sections are:

  • Recognise assumptions
  • Evaluate arguments
  • Draw conclusions

A 40 item version of the WGCTA became available at the end of 2011 and has the following benefits:

  • More contemporary and business relevant items
  • Interpretable subscale scores that provide information about three critical thinking skill domains
  • Better face validity and applicability of items for individuals from countries other than the United States
  • Scoring based on Item Response Theory (IRT) allowing a more accurate estimate of true critical thinking skills
  • Automated reports which include a basic Profile Report, an Interview Report and a Development Report are available
  • There is the ability to re-test candidates who completed Watson-Glaser with a further supervised test
  • A range of Norm Groups available
